The African Women’s Orchestra (AWO) is a dynamic collective of female instrumentalists and vocalists from across the continent, dedicated to amplifying the stories, artistry, and leadership of African women through music.

Founded with a mission to ensure African women are Seen, Heard, and Experienced in their authentic state, AWO serves as a creative sanctuary, professional platform, and talent pipeline for musicians. Since launching its flagship International Women’s Day Concert Series in 2017, the orchestra has brought together rich traditional heritage and contemporary symphonic sounds from Kenya, East Africa, and beyond. AWO combines performance with workshops, mentorship, and regional collaboration to transform the creative ecosystem.
